The college founders have observed that, increasingly that student community was opting for Statistics as a subject across various colleges of twin cities. Looking to start new courses they were convinced that the M.S.Cs. combination would add new dimension to the science courses. Thus the founders of ADC have started M.S.Cs. combination resulting the birth of Department of Statistics. The Department of Statistics was established in the year 1991 with a vision of promoting the study of statistics among student community.
The Department consists of faculty who are research oriented, intelligent and outspoken. The department believes in the idea that the vibrant academic environment is nurtured by highly motivated faculty, an opportunity to pursue research in front line areas of basic statistics-viz, probability, Statistical inference as well as inter disciplinary areas of science where multivariate data analysis is required to be handled by the aid of Computers. The ambition of the department of Statistics is to provide exciting academic learning facilities not only at UG level but also at PG/PHD levels through dedicated teaching, ideas to create a stimulating class room environment and attractive Social atmospheres through choice based credit system provided by Aurora’s institution.
The Department of statistics has been upgraded recently form UG level to PG level offering the MSc statistics course thereby becoming the first affiliated college under Osmania University to offer statistics. The department had a successful academic year 2015-16 with great team work of all the members comprising of 5 regular and 2 guest faculties.
Several innovative events were successfully organized. The department internally celebrated birthdays of all the members as part of the departmental activity.
