Department of Chemistry

The Department of Chemistry was established and opened in August 1993 with four combinations offered. Chemistry is at the heart of many disciplines and is a core science discipline with three combinations viz., MIGC(Microbiology, Genetics, Chemistry), MIBIC(Microbiology, Biochemistry, Chemistry)& BTBIC(Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Chemistry). The Department offers both undergraduate degrees and post graduate degrees. The Department believes in maintaining high standards and follows the guidance of the university and college in maintaining course study.

Department of Chemistry remains as one of the strong departments and its strength is because of young, energetic and dynamic faculty. The department comprises of seven faculty who are specialized in their area of interest and competent enough to teach any branch of chemistry in under graduate program viz., Inorganic chemistry, Organic Chemistry and Physical Chemistry.

Faculty work to maintain accessibility to our students and also work to collaborate with each other and other departments. We continue to work towards being the best all-around chemistry department.

One of our significant features is Laboratory. Department is well established and equipped with huge laboratories, which can cater laboratory sessions for 60 – 70 students at a time. The chemicals, apparatus and equipment’s are updated on regular basis.
