College Festivals

In the routine college schedule of a student, which mainly includes classes and studies, ‘College Fests’ shows certain excitement in the students. As the festive season slowly marches closer every student gets enthusiastic to participate in their desired events to win that victory title.College fests usually provide an excellent platform to showcase all kinds of different talents ranging from arts, educational and sports. Participating and winning an event gives everyone a confidence to move forward.

Abhiyaan

Abhiyaan is celebrated every year to give students a mileage to exhibit their innate skills. The college invites students from intermediate and undergraduate colleges of the twin cities and a two-day fest is organized.

Objectives:

  • To bring out the hidden talents of the students
  • To give the intermediate students a chance to experience learning beyond the classrooms
  • To provide a platform for them to identify , exhibit and build on their talent
  • To provide an opportunity for them to hone their skills
  • To inculcate the competitive and team spirit in the students
  • To enhance social interaction and facilitate exchange of ideas and thought
  • To have a networking with colleges across the twin cities
  • To provide opportunities to build exemplary confidence among the student fraternity

The Context:

  • A 2 day college fest, an initiative taken by the college to recognize various students’ credentials.

The practice:

  • The date and venue is finalized after a meeting Principal.
  • The materials like brochure, leaflets, registration books are prepared by the material committee fir campaigning.
  • Students are sent to other colleges for campaigning to get registration for various events. In-house and out-house registrations are done separately.
  • On the day of the event spot registration are also taken.
  • The fest starts with an inaugural session with speeches by the chief guests.
  • Students from the twin cities actively participate in technical, literary, general and sports events.
  • On the second day, the winners are awarded in the valedictory session

Talent week:

Talent week is celebrated every year for the students of the college to give a mileage for the students to showcase their innate skills. A week long schedule is prepared where events ranging from literary, cultural and fine arts are conducted.

Objectives:

  • To provide a platform for the students to discover and showcase their talents
  • To provide a competitive atmosphere for the students
  • To motivate each student to develop their academic potential and abilities.

The Context:

  • Talent week is conducted in the month of December.
  • The competitions are planned in consultation with the faculty members and scheduled for a week.

The practice:

  • Many off-stage and on-stage events like 'quiz', 'creative writing' for those with a flair for words; 'face painting' and 'pot painting' for those with soft spots for colors, 'cooking without fire' for those who wished to demonstrate their culinary skills, 'Dance' (solo and group), 'singing' (solo and group) 'pencil sketching', etc., to name a few.

Annual Day

The College Annual Day is a culmination of a year-long academic pursuits and events providing a niche to the students to equip themselves with the perennial changes. As a popular proverb quotes, “all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy” to ensure a holistic development of the students, college provides a platform to exhibit their skills and talents through various activities and competitions. Winners and participants are rewarded on the day to encourage and acknowledge their participation in different academic and co-curricularactivities. Students also entertain the audienceswith their brilliant performances and make the audiences enjoy.

Objectives:

  • To the students to equip themselves with the perennial changes
  • To ensure a holistic development of the students, college provides a platform
  • To exhibit their skills and talents To lift the spirits of young minds and inspire them
  • To concentrate on co-curricular activities along with academics

The Content:

  • The Annual day is conducted in the month of January which raises the excitement levels of the students.
  • It is conducted in Public Gardens, Nampally.

The practice:

  • It is a culmination of a year-long academic pursuits and events.
  • The guests honor the occasion with their presence and share words of encouragement.
  • Cultural programmes like skit, dances and singing ate performed by the students.
  • Winners and participants are rewarded on the day to encourage and acknowledge their participation in different academic and co-curricular activities.

Parichay (Induction)

Induction is a special ceremony of the college where all the first year students are formally introduced to the college and the faculty members. They are briefed on various cells, clubs, committees, activities and events of the college and motivated to participate and improve their interpersonal skills. Students are introduced to the alumni of the college, from different streams and professional backgrounds, who motivate the freshers by sharing their experience and their achievements. The first year students who are budding teachers, officers, entrepreneurs, writers, actors, etc. are encouraged to actively participate in all the activities and competitions to learn and improve their personalities and make a mark in the outside world.

Objectives:

  • To formally introduce the first year students to the college and all the faculty members.
  • To introduce the students to clubs and committees of the college.
  • To motivate the freshers to learn and improve their personalities

The Context:

  • The event is a formal induction of the Freshers into the portals of Aurora
  • The students are introduced to the systems and procedures of the institution
  • The students are exposed to motivational initiatives that gears them for the coursework.

The Practice:

There are three stages in Parichay

  • Pre-Induction
  • Anti Ragging
  • Induction

1) PRE-INDUCTION:

The students of first year are given warm welcome at Aurora by all seniors students and captains. After reopening of the college first 4 days are allocated for a detailed orientation about the college, cells, committees, activities and so on. The initial days are also an ice breaker for them to open with their seniors and friends. The schedule is perfectly followed by all and the purpose of presentations was completely achieved.

2) ANTI RAGING COMMITTEE:

In order to see that the juniors who are joining the college in 1st year do not go through the pain of ragging by seniors a committee to monitor any small activity causing in convenience to junior “Anti-Ragging committee” is formed. The committee shall have faculty members who are in-charges of each block. To support them for each floor there are floor in-charges. The faculty members are supported by student volunteers on each floor & block with posters and displays on the offence of ragging.

3) INDUCTION DAY:

As part of welcoming the fresher’s this is a formal program organized by the college. On this day the parents are introduced to the structure and functioning of the college. The parents are informed about the constituents of the Aurora family in terms of family customs, traditions and heritage. To accomplish the Parichay in a successful manner the committees are formed and the captains are allocated to each committee.

Samavartan – Mini Convocation

Aurora’s Mini Convocation Aurora’s Degree & PG College has the culture of celebrating ‘Samavartan’--The Mini Convocation following the procedural functions that sanctifies culmination of all learning of the new Graduates ready to explore new pastures. It is a prestigious occasion of the college which acknowledges and celebrates the sheer perseverance and endeavors of the outgoing students as well as the commitment of the faculty members. It marks the beginning of a new chapter in the life of every graduate as they take their first step into a new-fangled world. All the student toppers and achievers are felicitated by the college on their success and students are given Certificate of Excellence to recognize their advanced education.

Objectives:

  • To promote students to the rolls of honor list of the college and Osmania University by conferring them Degrees.
  • To honor and assimilate all learning by presenting gold medals and certificates.

The Context:

  • 1. All ideas are discussed with the resource people and the statutory bodies
  • 2. The event design is prepared which took shape as the Convocation Booklet.
  • 3. Categorization of awards and gold medals and the eligibility criteria were discussed as per the university policy.

The Practice:

  • The Convocation Booklet chronicles minute by minute procedural details; also assigns certain roles to the guests and the Principal.
  • The President announces them Graduates and confers the honours to the students.
  • Gold medals are awarded to the top ten students of the college and also to the top ten achievers of each Program.
  • The President gives his ‘Convocational Address’ that provides a sense of accomplishment and motivation to the Graduates.

Teacher’s Day

Objectives:

  • To mark a tribute for the contribution made by teachers to the society
  • To celebrate the teaching profession and recognize the efforts of their teachers
  • To thank the teachers for waking up at the crack of dawn to educate today's youth and make them able citizens
  • To pay respect for their relentless contribution and sacrifice for the betterment of the students.

The Context:

  • It is the birth anniversary of a great teacher Dr. SarvepalliRadhakrishnan, who was a staunch believer of education, and was a well-known diplomat, scholar, the President of India and a teacher.

The practice:

  • Every year Teachers day is celebrate with great enthusiasm as the students involve themselves in the arrangements.
  • Students organize fun filled games for the teachers and the winners are awarded by the Principal.
  • Dance, Singing and musical chair is also organized for the teachers..

Independence Day

Objectives:

  • To promote National Integration among students
  • To relate to the struggle of independence and its success
  • To salute the fallen by recalling their sacrifice, contribution and great deal of efforts made to set India free from the rule of British
  • To make the students understand the importance of unity and hardwork
  • To recognize the problems Independent India faces
  • To evaluate the governance and politics
  • To imbibe love for one’s own the feeling of country among the young generation of India
  • To appreciate the difficulties faced while drafting the constitution
  • To analyze the progress of India since Independence

The practice:

  • Competitions like Elocution, Essay writing, painting and more are conducted on the theme of National Integrity
  • The ceremonial parade is carried out by the NCC students with the permission of the Principal.
  • Flag hoisting ceremony and cultural program takes place at the main block of the college.
  • Principal hoists the flag and delivers a speech to motivate the students to work towards the development of our country
  • Students deliver formal speech in three different languages- English, Hindi and Telugu
  • Performances are given by the students on patriotic songs.

Republic Day

Objectives:

  • To promote National Integration among students
  • To make the students understand the importance of unity and hard work
  • To recognize the problems Independent India faces
  • To commemorate the day as a significant change took place in the governance of the country
  • To understand the change in constitutional policies
  • To evaluate the governance and politics
  • To appreciate the difficulties faced while drafting the constitution

The Context:

  • Republic Day marks a remarkable day in the history of India as it honors the date on which the Constitution of India came into effect as the governing document of India.
  • The Constitution was adopted by the Indian Constituent Assembly on 26 November 1949, and came into effect on 26 January 1950 with a democratic government system, completing the country's transition towards becoming an independent republic.

The Practice:

  • Competitions like Elocution, Essay writing, painting and more are conducted on the theme of National Integrity

  • Flag hoisting ceremony and cultural program takes place at the main block of the college.
